International Advisory Panel

The International Advisory Panel (IAP) for NUS Faculty of Law was established in 1998 to:

  • assess the Faculty’s academic standing in relation to internationally renowned universities; and
  • make recommendations on the Faculty’s strategic development and future goals with a view to achieving international eminence.

President and Vice-Chancellor of The University of British Columbia, Professor Stephen J Toope, chairs IAP with the support of the following members:

  1. Professor Joseph HH Weiler, University Professor and Director, Hauser Global Law School Programme, NYU Law School
     
  2. Dr Julie K Maxton, Registrar, University of Oxford

     

Advisory Board

In 2001, a Steering Committee for the NUS Faculty of Law was established to advise the Dean of Law and the NUS Vice Chancellor, and to act as a liaison between NUS and the legal profession. In 2007, the Steering Committee was replaced by a reconstituted Advisory Board, which retains the functions of the former Steering Committee. The members of the Advisory Board are as follows:

Mr Lucien Wong ’78 was appointed as a member of the Law Advisory Board with effect from 1 May 2008. Mr Wong replaced Mr K Shanmugam ’84 who was appointed as the Minister for Law and Second Minister for Home Affairs on 1 May 2008. Ms Chew Gek Khim ’84 has stepped down from the Advisory Board on 31 December 2008 upon expiry of her term of office.
